Hiya lovely humans,

I’m Kim, one of the co-creators here at Trenanthia Cottage. It’s so nice to finally e-meet you! I wanted to reach out to share an idea that’s close to my heart and was born from a feeling many may share.

Three years ago I moved to Canada from France, and as an immigrant, jumping on a plane home for the holidays isn’t always doable (my bank account says “non”). So for a couple of years, Christmas looked like a tiny crew… and a whole lot less of that big, noisy, heart-filling holiday gathering I'm used to back home.

Last year I finally thought: if I can’t go home, why not create a home around me instead? My two girlfriends and I booked a cottage for eight, put the word out on socials and five amazing humans signed up to join us. We cooked, played boardgames, went onto frozen hikes, laughed too loudly and woke up on Christmas morning actually feeling like we belonged to our very own chosen Christmas family. It was magic! So this year I wanted to open up that feeling to our Trenanthia community...
