Life is bigger when we're together

The best thing to hold onto in life is each other -- Audrey Hepburn
the muskoka version of a kitchen party (friends 'round the barbecue)
lakeside hot tub - fun for the whole family
classic cottage fire pit by the lake - s'mores & mores (family roasting marshmallows)
even great-grandma loved a good paddle (friends & their canoe, circa 1920)
sleeping under the stars in the loonie bin bedroom (skylight, lake view)
sharing a meal 'round the handmade harvest dining table
let off some steam in the lakeside barrel sauna
ahhhhhh, nothin' beats relaxing in a muskoka chair
the trenanthia cottage logo featuring Philomena the flying pig (& her butt tattoo)

( psst . . . we're open year round too )

the fall leaves are good for more than just beauty (mother/daughter leaf fight)
toasted toes - is there a recipe in there? (socked toes in front of fireplace)
follow in a great muskoka tradition (mother & child building a snow-person, circa 1950)

Make beautiful memories

Got a question? Chat with us live
People have been coming to vacation in Muskoka since the 19th century.  And why not when there's so much natural entertainment to choose from?  Gather your family & friends to share canoeing, fishing off the dock, playing horseshoes & volleyball, building sand castles on the beach or a round of good old fashioned board games.  Even when it's cold outside, make memories to keep you warm: ice-fishing, cross-country skiing, skating, snowmobiling, snow fort building or my personal favourite, building massive snowpeople

Outdoor hot tub

Whether you like a quiet soak with your partner, or a boisterous splash with friends, enjoy the bubbles and lakeside views in the outdoor hot tub (open early May to October Thanksgiving each year)

Lakeside sauna

Bask in the warmth of the wood-fired sauna while overlooking the lake.  Jump out and roll around in the water or snow for a refreshing (and healthy) gasp, erm, giggle

Lots of space (sleeps 12)

Outside is more than two acres set in a forest.  Inside is spacious and open plan to maximise the sociability factor.  Besides the copious bedrooms and bathrooms (five and four, respectively), there's a separate hanging out space & two living rooms.  Life is bigger with six couches

Log fireplaces & outdoor fire pit

Sharing ghost stories is best done in front of the fire light, isn't it? Gather around the outdoor fire pit or in front of one of the beautiful log fireplaces in each of the two living rooms.  Just be sure to check under the bed before going to sleep

Family owned & loved

Yup, it really is our grandmother that talks about whiffletrees and winter warmers.  We love the cottage & sure are doing our darnedest to make sure you do too

Free internet

Stay in touch with loved ones further afield.  Share your memories as they happen on the free high speed wifi available wirelessly anywhere in the cottage and outside on the deck.  Selfie anyone?

We love pets

You wouldn't leave grandpa behind, would you?  (Well, you might if he insists on slurping his soup like that.) Pets are welcome for free so bring 'em along

Close to Toronto

The road trip games won't last long - just 90 minutes from Toronto.  You'll be playing on the lake in no time

Open year round

My grandmother's winter warmer recipe :  Combine snowflakes, winter skies, family & friends.  Throw in a dash of playing on the ice followed by a generous helping of roaring fires.  Mix together and serve warm
